I don't really think it's limited to Northern Europeans, I just picked on them because I was writing that from Sri Lanka at the time where the only place that we could actually seemingly find local cuisine was in our hotel.

And you're right, the first part of the post was intended to be inflamatory. Hence the "Kirk's Non-Technical Rants" title of the blog. :-)Kirk Wyliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18076794607743558380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8492469382628661771.post-56933855463365500732008-12-19T06:37:00.000-08:002008-12-19T06:37:00.000-08:00Well, the thing is, as I started to feel this post...Well, the thing is, as I started to feel this post was a bit rude.. actually quite offensive in some of its statements. But then I kept on reading and I must admit I agree with you in most of the things you say. Even if I still think there could be less arrogant more subtle/elegant ways of expressing the very same concepts.

So what's the point at the end?. Simply stated, I despise that kind of people who travel abroad (abroad is abroad, doesn't matter where to or where from) thinking that if what they find there is not done in the same way they have it at home, then it's not good.

Sadly, I have seen examples everywhere, in every single country I've visited and, even more sadly, these examples weren't limited to those "North west european pigs".. I could say A LOT about american and their close-to-negative-infinite knowledge about anything which falls outside american boundaries.

Ignorance is an universal heritage after all.

PS: Btw, I prefer not to hear the restaurant's owner's daugther singing AT ALL, even if I can hear what my other half is saying. Actually, I think the restaurant's owner should be whipped bare ass for forcing the poor girl to wear that ridiculous supposedly-traditional clothesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
